Dataset card

This dataset is a 1,000-row sample of recent SEC EDGAR 8-K material-event filings, distributed by carrierone in Parquet format with a CC-BY-4.0 license designation. It is presented as an evaluation slice of a larger commercial corpus advertised at verilexdata.com.

What this dataset contains

The release holds 1,000 recent Form 8-K filings pulled from SEC EDGAR, covering US public-company material events. The broader source product is described as encompassing millions of filings across multiple form types, but only the 8-K sample is included here. Download activity on the listing is low, at roughly 25 downloads and zero likes.

Structure and fields

Data is delivered as a Parquet file with a single train split of 50 rows in the published artifact. Eight columns are defined: accession_number, cik, company_name, form_type, filing_date, filing_url, primary_document_key, and date, all stored as large_string values. The schema is keyed on SEC identifiers and timestamps rather than on the underlying filing text.

How analysts use it

The tags mark it as suitable for text classification and feature extraction tasks, and the fields support linking back to EDGAR documents via filing_url and primary_document_key. For investment workflows, it could prototype event-driven screens of 8-K disclosures or build training data for parsers that route filings by form_type, cik, and filing_date, subject to the sample's small size and the commercial nature of the full corpus.
