Dataset card

Chinese-Patent-Summary is a Chinese-language text dataset pairing patent specification inputs with generated summaries. It is distributed in JSON and is typically used for training summarization models on Chinese patent text.

What this dataset contains

The dataset consists of roughly 8,000 rows in a single training split, stored in JSON format. Each row pairs a Chinese patent specification with a corresponding summary, framed as an instruction-following example. Content is drawn from Chinese utility-model and invention patents, based on the sample rows referencing stage-design utility models.

Structure and fields

Three string fields are exposed in the schema: instruction, output, and input. The instruction field carries the task prompt, the input field contains the full patent specification text, and the output field provides the reference summary. The library tags indicate the data can be loaded via the datasets, pandas, polars, or mlcroissant libraries.

How analysts use it

For investors, the primary use is as a labeled corpus for training and evaluating Chinese-language summarization models that can process patent filings at scale. Because the records originate from public patent disclosures, a coverage of filings could support thematic screening of innovation activity in Chinese listed companies or supply-chain counterparties, although the dataset itself does not include company identifiers, classification codes, or filing dates. Analysts should treat any downstream investment signal as model-derived rather than a direct readout of patent metadata.
