What this dataset contains

The dataset compiles around 24,064,928 rows of clinical trial records drawn from public registries, as indicated by the single train split. Each row is tagged with a source label such as 'ctgov', pointing to ClinicalTrials.gov as one of the contributing registries. A dedicated boolean flag, is_rare_disease, lets users filter for trials targeting rare conditions.

Structure and fields

The table is delivered in Parquet and is organized around the trial_id primary key. Descriptive fields include source and condition_name, while standardized medical vocabularies are captured through mesh_term, meddra_term, and meddra_code. The is_rare_disease boolean column enables categorical filtering across the 24 million-row corpus, and tooling tags suggest compatibility with the datasets, dask, polars, and mlcroissant libraries.

How analysts use it

Healthcare and biotech analysts can group trials by condition_name, MedDra codes, or mesh_term to track research activity across disease areas over time. The is_rare_disease flag supports dedicated screens for orphan-drug pipeline coverage. Because rows are linked back to public registries via trial_id and source, the dataset also lends itself to citation analysis of registered clinical studies.
