Dataset card
Clinical-trials-embedded is a Hugging Face dataset published by user louisbrulenaudet that distributes clinical trial records from ClinicalTrials.gov in tabular form together with pre-computed text embeddings. It is hosted in parquet format and is released under an unstated license.
What this dataset contains
The dataset holds structured metadata for roughly 100,000 clinical studies on the training split, spanning identifiers, design, status, enrollment, eligibility, sponsorship, geography, and free-text descriptions. It also carries numerical vector embeddings of narrative fields such as brief_summary and eligibility_criteria, which is unusual for a clinical-trials source and useful for semantic search.
Structure and fields
Records are keyed by nct_id and include study descriptors like study_type, overall_status, phases, study_first_submit_date, primary_completion_date and completion_date. Trial design and population are described by enrollment_count, minimum_age, maximum_age, sex, healthy_volunteers, std_ages, study_population, sampling_method, design_info, conditions and keywords, while lead_sponsor_name and lead_sponsor_class identify the responsible party. Free-text fields brief_summary, detailed_description and eligibility_criteria are accompanied by their float-vector embeddings, and locations captures city and country information for participating sites.
How analysts use it
Because the file mixes ClinicalTrials.gov-style fields with ready-made text embeddings, it can feed retrieval-augmented pipelines that match investor questions to relevant trials or sponsors. Analysts tracking biotech catalysts could filter on phases, overall_status, primary_completion_date and lead_sponsor_name to surface upcoming readouts by sponsor, condition or geography, while the embeddings enable similarity searches across brief_summary and eligibility_criteria. Sample identifiers shown are NCT07025798 and NCT07025811, confirming current-vintage coverage.
