What this dataset contains
Each row corresponds to one ClinicalTrials.gov study entry distributed as raw protocol files. The size tag indicates a corpus between 100,000 and 1,000,000 studies. A readme description is not provided, and the publisher and licensing terms are not stated in the source metadata.
Structure and fields
The schema exposes three string columns: filename, xml, and text. The filename column stores the original file identifier, xml holds the protocol XML payload conforming to the ClinicalTrials.gov schema, and text holds the accompanying plain-text rendering of the record. All three fields are loaded as simple string values with no nested typing, and the corpus is delivered as a single train split.
How analysts use it
Given the registry origin, the dataset is suited to text-miniature and NLP work on trial protocols, including eligibility-criteria extraction, indication mapping, and outcome-endpoint parsing. Because the files derive from the public ClinicalTrials.gov feed, it can also serve as a foundation for tracking study starts, sponsor activity, and trial-design trends over time. The unclear licensing and absent documentation, however, mean any downstream redistribution or commercial use should be reviewed against ClinicalTrials.gov's own terms of use.
