Dataset card

Clinical_Trials is a tabular extract of clinical study records sourced from the ClinicalTrials.gov registry, distributed in Parquet format. It captures protocol, sponsor, enrollment and outcome metadata for hundreds of thousands of studies.

What this dataset contains

The dataset contains approximately 499,566 rows in its training split, each representing a registered clinical study. Records include identifying fields such as NCT Number and Study URL alongside descriptive attributes like Study Title, Brief Summary, Conditions, Interventions and Phases. Sponsor, Collaborators and Funder Type are also captured, along with enrollment counts and milestone dates.

Structure and fields

All textual fields are stored as strings, with Enrollment as the only numeric column at float64. Core identifiers (NCT Number, Study URL, Acronym, Other IDs) link back to the source registry, while categorical attributes cover Study Status, Study Type, Study Design, Sex, Age, Funder Type and Phases. Trial detail is captured in Primary Outcome Measures, Secondary Outcome Measures, Other Outcome Measures and Study Documents, and timeline fields include Start Date, Primary Completion Date, Completion Date, First Posted, Results First Posted and Last Update Posted.

How analysts use it

Investors tracking the biopharma sector can filter on Conditions, Interventions and Sponsor to monitor pipeline breadth, study progression through Study Status and Phases, and trial scale via Enrollment. Funder Type and Collaborators support analysis of academic versus industry sponsorship, while dates such as Last Update Posted and Results First Posted enable event-based tracking of readouts. Because the data is a redistribution of public registry information, it is best used as a structured reference layer rather than a proprietary signal.
