Dataset card

clinicaltrials-kg is a Parquet-based knowledge graph derived from ClinicalTrials.gov, distributed by VaidhyaMegha. It links trial records to arms, outcomes, sites, sponsors, conditions, interventions, MeSH codes, and PubMed publications.

What this dataset contains

The dataset is a snapshot dated 2026-04-02 of clinical trial registry data modeled as a graph and stored in Parquet, approximately 623 MB compressed versus about 7 GB as raw JSON. Coverage spans trial records together with their linked arms, outcomes, sites, sponsors, conditions, interventions, MeSH codes, and PubMed publications. Two upstream sources were excluded from this published copy because their terms did not permit redistribution.

Structure and fields

The single training split contains about 23.16 million rows. Each row is identified by an integer id and carries a trial_nct_id string linking the row to a ClinicalTrials.gov registry entry, along with a description, a human-readable label, and a type field describing the entity role. Records are intended to be loaded with the Samyama Graph engine and queried via Cypher.

How analysts use it

Analysts can traverse sponsor-to-condition or intervention-to-outcome paths across the graph to map the clinical development landscape around specific therapeutic areas or trial sponsors. The MeSH and PubMed linkages make it usable for bibliometric studies connecting trial activity to published research, while site and sponsor fields support geographic and competitive analysis of where studies are run and who funds them. Attribution to the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the AACT/CTTI source must be carried with any redistribution.
