OpenAQ is a nonprofit environmental-technology organization and open-data platform for ground-level air-quality measurements. It aggregates measurements published by governments, research networks, and other monitoring operators, harmonizes their representation, and makes them available through an interactive explorer, an API, and a bulk archive.[1][2][3]

OpenAQ does not operate all of the monitors represented in its database. These uses require attention to spatial coverage and monitor type. A missing record may indicate that a source is not openly published or not ingested, rather than that air pollution was absent. Likewise, a measurement at one station is not automatically representative of an entire city or region.

OpenAQ describes itself as the first project to aggregate disparate ground-level ambient air-quality data on a centralized open-source platform.[2] That priority claim comes from the organization and was not independently established in the reviewed material.
